Hon. Gikunju Wachira

I am Edwin Gikunju Wachira, and I proudly hail from Munyu Village in Marmanet Ward. My journey in leadership and community service began early, during my time at Ngumo High School, and continued through university and into various community initiatives that have shaped my commitment to serving the people of Marmanet.
Over the years, I have remained actively involved in community organizations such as Marmanet Catholic Youth, the Marmanet Diaspora Group, and other local initiatives that focus on uplifting our community. These experiences have strengthened my belief that real and lasting development begins when communities come together with a shared vision for progress.
I am a firm believer that true leadership begins with listening. Through regular engagement with farmers, boda boda riders, small business owners, youth, women’s groups, and senior citizens across Marmanet Ward, I have gained a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that define our community. These conversations continue to guide my vision for a stronger, more inclusive, and more prosperous Marmanet.
My passion lies in empowering people and strengthening community welfare systems. I am committed to nurturing and supporting the youth, empowering women and men’s groups, advocating for persons living with disabilities, and promoting development initiatives that benefit the wider community, including churches and other public amenities.
I strongly believe that when people unite through welfare groups, local enterprises, and community-driven initiatives, we build a solid foundation where no one is left behind. Supporting women in business, safeguarding the welfare and dignity of boda boda riders, creating opportunities for our youth, and ensuring our senior citizens remain respected pillars of wisdom are causes that remain close to my heart.
